Carrie Pendergrass is responsible for my mad passion for sewing. After I first met her, she mentioned teaching sewing classes and displayed two handmade bags she made which impressed me. It looked store-bought; the design and fabric were both modern and stylish. I expressed an interest and Carrie offered to teach me in return for sign language lessons. Thus started my hobby (and a wonderful friendship!). I am addicted to bright, beautiful, contemporary fabric and can easily turn into a fabric hoarder. Sewing is a creative, relaxing outlet for me. I enjoy sewing gifts for others but I don't like sewing the same project over and over.
